about her work
At present Kosana works mainly in acrylics and inks, sometimes combined with collage and quite often natural and not so natural substances such as sand, salt and bleach, to name but a few, which helps convey her love of texture and pattern. She also use watercolours when doing more delicate work as can be seen in the paintings of the Scottish highlands. She likes to experiment with new mediums/materials to help achieve the desired effect of a particular piece and is always evolving her techniques. In the textured pieces, Kosana quite often uses a variety of mixed media and also likes to apply the paint 'impasto'.
She has a love of bold colour and mostly paints straight from the tube and often mix colours directly on the canvas. She is inspired by the French Impressionists and contemporary Scottish artists such as John Lowrie Morrison (JoLoMo).
